Wednesday (cont.)
Another
screaming reach back to Long Cay and more conch and lobster. I watch Claudio catch lobster.
He grabs two and three at a
time from under one coral head, in one breath. I
try to hook a lobster, but he gets away.
Kyle and Elias
are catching fish.
Back out to
the deep blue sea, now rolling at 6-8 feet, we circle around the southern edge of
Lighthouse Reef. Several more barracuda are
landed, but a few are lost after being grabbed by some really big fish that snap the 30 lb
test line. One strike pulls all the line from
the reel before we even get to the pole. Some
favorite lures are lost. After slowing down
several times for fish, the girls are done rolling and we duck behind the lee side of the
reef.
Past Hat Cay (renamed
Denises Island), we anchor in the breeze behind the reef.
Denise and I
grill the lobster on the boat.
Could we
possible squeeze more into a day????
