Jean & Dave's Website

 A long time ago in a land far, far away this journey began. A handsome young man named Dan McCarthy and a beautiful colleen named Nora Coffey set forth individually to a journey from the Emerald Isle, thru Ellis Island to the shores of the New World. Both were leaving family and homeland behind. The time was the 1920’s. Each, alone, was setting out to make a better life for themselves.

As fate would have it, they met in Chicago, courted and were married. They brought forth a son Dan who grew up on Chicago’s West Side and was married to his college love, Barbara O’Shea.

They produced 5 children, 4 girls Kathleen, Doreen, Jean, and Colleen and 1 boy Dan Jr.

In the course of time the children grew to be successful and became well aware of their Irish heritage. They knew of relatives that were still living in Ireland but that was a land far away.

Jean and her husband Dave had the opportunity to visit Ireland because of a business trip of Dave’s. Both enjoyed what they saw and wanted to go back.

Thus the plan for the family to visit Ireland, meet distant family and enjoy the country. Dan and Barbara and their children and husbands, Jean and Dave, Colleen and Mike and son Dan Jr. start the odyssey on October 6^th, 2000.
