St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Page 5
Lambi is the local word for "conch". In Florida, they pound the conch until it is tender enough to chew. In the Grenadines, lambi melts in your mouth. Of course, the conch at Lambi's was the best, as was the WHOLE lobster for one, the potato salad, the cole slaw, the strong cocktails and Lambi's version of a Brandy Alexander (Crème de menthe and vanilla ice milk). Sun, too much food, too much drink and a great breeze. The rain was almost over by the time I woke at 2:30. The hatches were already closed. Thanks, Kyle! Petit St. Vincent (PSV)A short beat brought us to PSV, an exclusive resort and the last island in the country. Retired Air Force pilot Haze Richardson set sail for the Caribbean in the 50's and today owns this island limited to 44 guests. Since the resort was closed, we were able to walk up the hill and see the view and a room. Denise forgot shoes and I forgot the camera. Truly paradise, but for $831 per night (before drinks), and no air conditioning, I'll stay on the floating palace. After all, we picked up roti's for lunch today.
Since the resort was closed, Brian called the Palm on Petit Martinique (PM), which is less than a mile away, and they sent a boat to pick us up. PM is part of the country of Grenada, but since neither PSV or PM has customs, no one really cares. The calaloo soup was wonderful. Ho hum. |
